toyota rav4 questions?

i’m thinking about buying one of these… i’m not exactly car savvy…. can someone tell me about them? i read the gas mileage is good… and that AWD is standard… is this the case? or do they say the mileage is good but every little thing drains it? i saw one car that said “4wd is on all the time” … isn’t that bad?

i’m not looking to off road it or anything… i just want a bigger vehicle than i have now but the environment and my wallet are in enough trouble without adding another gas guzzler to the road… so the rav4 seemed like a good match. i drive 5 mins back and forth to the train station every day and occasionally the grocery store. on teh weekend i do more highway driving, taking trips and stuff.

any opinions or thoughts?

What is the best route to drive cross country from CA to CT in the winter?

The necessities.what should I bring for this holiday road trip?

She will be experiencing my side of the family for the first time who are approx. 6 hours from home. The trip will be a 3-4day stay. My wife insists on bring practically everything except the crib for the trip (exersaucer, toys, bouncy chair, play mat, etc.etc.)

Keep in mind we also have to fit our stuff in this (4days worth of clothing for the both of us, toiletries, cold weather gear for outdoor activities. Not to mention, the babies clothing and blankets and other bare essentials)

Top it all off it has to fit in a Toyota Matrix with a mid size non-rigid cartop carrier. Tried looking into renting a mid-size SUV/mini-van for the trip…prices are almost as much as it would for me to fly home. I want to go as light as possible.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Ihave a2000 chevy 4×4 will raising the front end by the torsion bars throw out the alingment?is it easy 2 do?

if raising a 4×4 by rolling the torsion bars out will it throw the alignment out? if so can this be realinged? i have a 2000 chevy 3/4 ton 4×4 crewcab shortbed, old body style, im want to lift with spending a fortune. any tips would be appreciated.

I am getting a 79 blazer for aboput 1100, in good running condition, what are some mods I should do. Someone said get a 2 barrel carb or something and bigger tires.

Also… do I use 87 octane or 92?
