Can anyone give me tips for buying a 1999 Ford F150 Extended Cab 4×4, Tips and what to watch out for?

4x4 tips
I am planing to buy an 1999 Ford F150 Ext Cab with 4×4, XLT or Larient Trim. I have $8-$12K to spend, i’d prefer to buy it at around 8K. The truck will have around 100-140K miles. I am looking for a reliable truck that will be able to do everything. Is this truck a good choice for the millage that it has? Also, can you guys give me some tips to check out when I go for a test drive/check out the truck. I have consumer reports and have been looking at various Ford websites for tips, but I would like to see what you guys have to say from your experiences. Is it worth it to get the 5.4L V8 over the smaller, one because of similar gas millage? I don’t plan to haul trailers. I plan to use the truck as an everyday driver and also road trips across a couple of states. What are some common problems these trucks experience at the stated millage? What are some red flags to look out for?
Thanks.
Im in PHX, Arizona if that helps.

Sarah e asked:

So I'm looking for an SUV. Yes we need one. We live in the mountains and we need a 4×4 to get around. I wish I could get a little prius but no sense that work for our needs of the family. We love camp. My girlfriend Gradica practice surfing and snowboarding that bike. He wants a car that can measure a long edge. We want someone who can measure 2 large dogs, a small dog, a child and both. With room for the bags when we go on road trips. A car that can accamparti off inside it would be nice too. We have never slept in the night worse for the little wagon impreza. 'd Love a third row seat for when I carry around my friends' kids. cars that I have limited down to these 4. Freedom 08 Prospect 4 runner Inhabitant of the highlands of Scotland I'm relying on more towards the jeep mainly because I had the jeep in and love. BUT I think that the inhabitants of the highlands of Scotland was the best. It looks great. But it is hard enough? What would you turn the best for our family?

1991 Toyota Camry Wouldn’t Start?

off road toyota trip
Sara B asked:

So yesterday, I led my 91 Toyota Camry at a friends house, about 3 miles away. So I have taken on the freeway for probably about 5 miles or so and then I was stopping and going in traffic for 2 miles new. I arrived at my destination (the car was not in the red on the overheating, but I run my air conditioner for about 5 minutes on the trip and I saw the caliber start to go up, so obviously I have closed off . It was a little more than half between the C and H). I parked my car, I fell off my friend and I have run some errands for about 30 minutes and then I went, I retreat to my car, préparant go home. When I tried to start the car, tried to start, but has basically turned quickly without success. Twice, the engine is started up, but very shakily, before his death. Anyway, I opened the hood, checked all my liquids and then I left my hood open po'ho for a suspect who was considered just too hot start (it was then probably 90 degrees outside). After about 10 minutes to have the hood up, I tried to start up again and finally began, shakily, so I reversed and driven around the parking lot for several minutes before finding enough to take withdrawals on the road. I was remanded into traffic and go for about 45 minutes and it did not dirigermi problem. It didn 'overheating or act of t unknown at all. Anyone who knows what could cause this behavior? Now I'm nervous about require university this semester, its only about 6.5 miles away, but I include both the freeway driving arrest that fairly heavy traffic and going on and obviously going to be hot for another month or so . Ideas?

Both are 4×4’s,lifted, and priced the same. The ford has 34,000 miles and the dodge has 18,000 miles. Type of driving: daily around town (short trips), as well as off-road use.

car repair: what is a good cost to repair a front engine seal leak, timing belt replacement, rear seal leak?

Sunday, February 22nd, 2009

peaches asked:

i have a 1998 toyota camry. i dont know much about cars and rarely get bigger work done on my car since it hasn’t caused me many problems - mainly brakes, tires, and oil changes. i just came from the deadlership (i got an oil change, tire rotation, and new brake pads/rotor reface) and they told me my car:
- has a fluid leak
- has a front engine seals leak
- needs a new timing belt
- has a rear main seal leak

im pretty clueless about cars and always feel like im getting ripped off! how serious are these issues, which are most important to address first, and what are resonable costs for these repairs? about a year ago i was informed of some of these issues and they haven’t cause any problems yet. i dont drive that much — about 50 miles per week with the occasional road trip a few times a year. the car is getting old and i anticipate getting a new one in the next year or so, so i dont want to spend a lot on maintenance that’s not ABSOLUTELY necessary to the life of the car….i just don’t want to end up stranded on the side of the road! thanks for your advice ahead of time.
